About me…

I’ve decided to take the chance, be inspired by life and see where this venture takes our family. I’m married and a mum of 3 beautiful children and 2 teeny tiny angels. I was an LSA for 9 years and have a foundation degree in Childhood Studies. I love nature, being in the garden, by the sea, walking through fields, those are my happy places.

I’d say I’m a practical learner, I love making things and tinkering. This venture is certainly going to be a learning curve and I hope to only get better with time. I like to do things my own way, I get excited by the thought of my projects not being the same as others, having a unique element to them. I hope this will be evident in my products.

About the business…

The name Life Inspyred came to me when I was having coffee and cake with my mama in a little tea room in Llantrisant. It was not long after my youngest was born and we were brainstorming name ideas. All the pieces I’ve made have been based on my own experiences and photographs or those of my friends and family. Hence, being inspired by life. Following my studies I was very aware of copyright and plagiarism. By not using ‘stock’ images, I’m able to feel confident that nothing has infringed any laws. As for the ‘Inspyred’, that’s just a play on words, ‘pyre’ being the Latin for fire and incorporating where this business idea stemmed from, pyrography.

I was introduced to pyrography many years ago by a fabulous technology teacher. I’ve been dabbling in it ever since. I set up Life Inspyred a couple of years ago but it didn’t quite take off like I’d hoped. Lockdown has given me time to analyse and focus on where I want it to go. We got the garden looking great and one of the school tasks my middle child got sent was to do with handprints. It got me thinking, and me and my non conforming side tried to find a way for it to be different. That’s where the ‘Handsies’ were born! We had a lot of green in our garden and not as much colour as I’d wanted so I turned the kids handprints into flowers, to add a touch of colour all year round! Following a few epic brainstorming sessions, I’ve got a long list of products to make using handprints which is continually growing. I have to give credit to my clever friend, Becca at Silly Panda, for the play on words name for the product, taking inspiration from pansies. I’m super excited and can’t wait to get going.
